2017: The Year of Living Well
I'm guilty of it. You're guilty of it. We all know someone who does it, too. You make a New Year's resolution that you never stick to. Sometimes it's a well-meaning resolution and other times, let's be honest, you were never going to stick to it in the first place.
After the year that I had in 2016, I was desperate to create a new resolution for 2017! But in the search for creating a single resolution for 2017, I realized that the answer was right in front of me all along. I, and I'm sure many others like me, tend to get wrapped up in the bigger picture things. Where is my career going to be in a year? How much money can I make? Will anyone appreciate my insanely expensive Restoration Hardware dining room table that I bought but never eat on?
Everyone has different life goals and that works for them. But one of the most crucial lessons that I have realized this year is that life is exceedingly short. No moment is guaranteed and a future is never promised. My resolution for 2017 was based less on what I shouldn't do, and more focused on what I SHOULD be doing. I want to make 2017 a year of experiences and adventure. 2017 is a year of stepping outside of my comfort zone and taking a risk. Living in the moment. Spreading happiness and enjoying the sunshine on my face.
"Most humans are never fully present in the now, because unconsciously they believe that the next moment must be more important than this one. But then you miss your whole life, which is never not now. And that's a revelation for some people: to realize that your life is only ever now." - Eckhart Tolle
So, without further ado, here is my bucket list of adventure for 2017. It keeps me accountable as well! Have fun and check back to see what I've checked off (or added to!) the list!!
