Budget Friendly Ways to Decorate for Fall
It’s my most favorite time of the year. That includes, cooler weather, changing leaves (just kidding, I live in Austin!), all things pumpkin spiced and flavored, and of course, snuggly winter clothes and blankets. My other favorite thing is shopping for new home decor! There’s just something that seems so festive about changing around your house decor. However, I’m not a huge fan of the orange & black color theme that comes with Halloween. So, instead, I like to focus on a neutral color theme that gives you the feeling of fall vibes, but can be repurposed and recycled all year long as the seasons change! Budgeting at its finest! So, without further ado, let’s chat about some of my new favorite things for this upcoming fall/winter season from Amazon.
I love literally everything about this cotton wreath. Maybe it’s because I’m a Yankee, but the first time I saw cotton actually drying on the plant, I went nuts (I still have a tuft of cotton in my bedroom, actually!). So, this is such a cool, different way to do a wreath. It’s also a unique, neutral modern option if you’re looking to add some fall themed flair, or you simply have a farmhouse theme. You could also add some string lights as it got closer to Christmas, for some festive flair.
Pumpkins are about as “fall” as you can get with your decor. You wait all year until you can go to the pumpkin patch, drink some apple cider, and enjoy those delicious cinnamon sugar donuts. Starbucks starts releasing their pumpkin spice latte. It’s just the quintessential fall item. But again, if you’re like me, you don’t want your house full of orange. Not to mention traditional pumpkins will spoil and rot if they sit around on the patio or front steps too long. I love these classic white pumpkins. They’re the perfect size for table centerpieces, mantles, or sprinkling around the house. And again, keeping them white allows you to integrate the pumpkins into your Christmas and winter decor as well!
I love everything about these runners. This specific one comes in 20 different colors and they are only $7! The best part about that is if food gets spilled on it (or candle wax, or your dog bites it, who knows?), they are completely replaceable. I love that! I’m not interested in spending $25 on a table runner that is going to get destroyed by Grandma’s casserole. The wide variety of colors and patterns allow you to switch up your table settings, but Pinterest was giving me ALL THE FALL VIBES by using these jute runners.
Here are some of my favorite Pinterest-inspired table settings.
I don’t know that I have to say much more than … welcome to fall. Also, I love candles. And the more the merrier. There are soooo many good scents, but a good fall candle is what I need. And a lifetime stock of the best smelling vanilla candles in the entire world. Thanks.
For some reason, the first thing I think of when I think of fall is plaid. I love plaid on a normal day, but I think throwing some plaid onto the decorative pillows on the sofa helps add a bit of fall flair. And, of course like all things that I’ve been planning on, you can extend these pillows’ use into the Christmas season as well. Black and white go with everything, right? Not to mention, these are a relatively affordable set, with each pillow case costing $6! Woo!
Might as well get all the pillow loving out at the same time. I love decorative throw pillows, as evidenced above. Some of my favorite ones come from World Market, but unfortunately, they are at a price point where I find it hard to justify getting new ones all the time. So, obviously, my search leads me to Amazon, where I find some like this gorgeous pillow - and it’s 32 other options! - that are a much more affordable option to the pricier World Market versions. Again, there are so many colors to choose from, but this is such a great find. And, before you get too excited, these are actually embroidered pillows too! Not just printed. Awesome.
When I was younger, I didn’t like anything gold, but now it’s become my new favorite thing. To be honest, these candlesticks are so versatile for so many things, they don’t necessarily fall into a fall decor post. But, I was beyond excited when I saw that it was a three piece candle holder set for $17. Thank God because even though I love them, candle holders can be expensive. No thanks. So, another perfect set that you can use on your dining room table, or on a mantle, all year round.
Set of 3 Indoor Outdoor Decorative Metal Faceted Hurricane Candle Lanterns w/Clear Glass - Brass - $64
Slightly more pricey option than the candlesticks above, but I love this lantern set for a couple reasons. One, this is a well-priced one, since many candle lanterns on Amazon are this price for one. I also like these because you could use them in the summer as terrariums, or fill them with a variety of potpourri, festive items, or simple add plants! Obviously, using some pillar candles for mood lighting is a beautiful option as well. I just like a really versatile piece of home decor. Again, these lanterns are gold and could be awesome as some table centerpieces, outside, or on a mantle. I really can’t decide where I would use them most! And two - this is an Amazon dupe for the much pricier West Elm version that are on sale right now (but one lantern is $35!).
Natural Hemp Jute Twine Burlap Leaves Leaf Trim Ribbon 30 Feet 10 Yards for DIY Craft Decoration -$8
After seeing some gorgeous olive leaf wreaths, I came across this jute and then got lost in the Pinterest rabbit hole that is table decorating (see above!). This is such a cool way to add something really versatile and easy to your mantle for the holidays, for table runners or decorations, or even as a napkin tie. I really thought that the possibilities were endless and what I liked even more is that it was $8 so I didn’t feel like I had to keep it after the holidays were over.
This is another “not exactly fall decor” item, but this seagrass basket has a ton of uses for all season long, so I think it’s a versatile piece. There are tons of options of different wicker/seagrass baskets on Amazon (and other sites) but this is a good size basket for the price. It’s perfectly for blankets, pillows, or other fall cozy essentials.
If there’s one thing that I love, it’s a good blanket. If I’m watching a movie, I have a blanket. I have approximately (according to Paul) too many blankets on the bed as it is. So, it’s no surprise that one of my favorite fall essentials is a warm and fuzzy blanket. Tons of options on Amazon, too. I’ve linked a few of my cozy favorites here.
