Mix Up Your Signature Fragrance with Skylar Scent Club

I’ve been talking a lot recently about going greener and cleaner with my everyday products. One thing that I feel like we often overlook is our perfume. Our signature scent! In high school, I wore Ruehl perfume (and also Abercrombie fragrance, because I worked there and I was into it, ok?) until the store no longer existed. Then, as an adult, I wandered through Sephora sniffing and smelling my way through the aisles until I came across something that I felt like said, “This is you.”

Since then, I don’t think that I’ve had a signature anything. In fact, more of than not now, I want to change it up. I personally like having several different scents to wear throughout the week. Maybe I’m feeling happy? Sassy? Upbeat? I suppose there should be a scent for that as well. But, I don’t even know where to begin when I’m looking for scents and I don’t know what I should be looking to avoid. Did you know that many women are actually allergic to traditional perfumes? That was news to me, but it makes total sense when we don’t know what is in the bottle.

That’s where Skylar comes in. There’s quite a few things that I love about this company, but let me start off with this: their products are hypoallergenic, free of synthetic dyes, paraben-free, and cruelty-free. So, we’re off to an incredible start.

But, even better, they’re women-owned so each scent is made by a woman who really understands what women want.

Skylar recently launched a Monthly Scent Club, where they send you a unique, monthly scent. Each scent comes with a mantra to inspire your goals and intentions for that month. The first scent I received was Magic Bloom, and it’s an incredibly light, slightly floral scent that has notes of pear and magnolia. It’s the perfect kind of girly touch without being overpoweringly sweet. It definitely smells and reminds me of spring.

I love trying new scents, but my biggest pet peeve is when a fragrance smells great in the bottle but disappears as soon as you spray it. This is just the opposite. I find myself bringing my wrist to my nose to get another sniff throughout the day. And, each of these scents is the perfect travel size (0.33 fl oz) - something that I LOVE. I never check a bag, so my favorite scents usually have to stay at home. I’m also a fan of roller ball applicators, since I feel like I waste less fragrance when I use them and subsequently, they last longer.

And my FAVORITE thing about Skylar’s Scent Club? A portion of the proceeds is donated to Step Up, a non-profit organization that helps empower underprivileged high school girls to follow their dreams and reach their full potential.

Everything that comes to you is in eco-friendly packaging (something I love!), including their packing peanuts! Use code: SWIFTRUNNING10 for 10% off any Skylar products, including the Scent Club!
