My Daily Routine with Sunday Riley Skincare
I’ve been slowly adding in the Sunday Riley products into my daily skincare routine for a few months now. I figured, I wanted to give it enough time to try to see the results before I shared it with ya’ll! That being said, you can save 15% of orders from Dermstore if you’ve been on the fence and never ordered from them before (and they do a subscribe and save!). Not to mention, I’m a huge fan of putting makeup and skincare in stockings, so it’s a great way to kick off your holiday season!
Nighttime Routine: Good Genes + Luna
The majority of the Sunday Riley products I’ve been using have been for a night time regimen. Nighttime products are always my favorite, especially since it’s the one time that I’m not going to immediately sweat a cream or serum off my face!
I’ve been bouncing back and forth between the Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos night time serum and the Good Genes serum. I’ve decided that with the inclusion of Luna and the retinol routine, this is going to be my new winter routine. Because retinol leaves your skin extra sensitive to the sun, I tend to stay away from those products in the sun-filled Austin summer.
So, Good Genes is a lactic acid treatment - meaning it’s great for dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles, and uneven texture. You know, basically all of the things that you want to fix! It has such an awesome citrus smell (maybe something akin to oranges?), which is something that I love about it. The acid in the Good Genes serum helps to exfoliate dead skin cells while you’re sleeping and you wake up with fresh, glowing skin. It does have a bit of a greasy texture, but I’ve never noticed any breakouts or adverse effects from it.
I do notice a bit of tingling when I first put it on, but it quickly leaves. Even though this treatment is a bit spendy, I have had my large bottle for probably 4 months now and one pump at night is more than sufficient for my needs.
You can use this alone or as part of a two-step treatment with Luna Night Sleeping Oil.
Luna Night Sleeping Oil
So, Luna is an interesting step for me in terms of skincare since it’s the first retinol that I have used. It’s also colored with blue tansy, which makes it incredibly blue when you first put it on. Don’t worry though, as soon as you start to massage it into your skin, it immediately changes to a clear color. As with any nighttime serum, I wanted to use it to offset any fine lines, wrinkles, spots or anything less than perfect that might happen to my skin as I get older.
But, the one thing that I wasn’t anticipating was just how silky and soft it would make my skin. It seriously makes it feel so light and plump (is that the word I want?) when I wake up in the morning. Even though it has a greasier texture, I don’t wake up feeling oily. I haven’t had any issues with breakouts either! It seems to make a big difference in my skin when I’m stressed, leaving it much less red and dried out.
I only use 2-3 drops from the dropper and I massage it into my skin for about 20-30 seconds. You want to let Luna soak into the skin for about 10 minutes before you apply Good Genes! I usually just brush my teeth and lay out my clothes for the next day!
Under Eye Depuff
One of the newest things that I’ve started using from Sunday Riley is their Autocorrect serum, which is a caffeine-filled under eye depuffer. Which, let’s face it, is something that is awesome for me. I spend a lot of time getting up early so I’ll take all the depuffing that I can get. I’m not usually a big believer in “instant” relief claims, since that seems to be largely suspect, but I do feel that I can notice a difference when I use this in the morning versus when I don’t!
It has a bit of shimmer in the formulation, so the added brightness underneath my eyes helps mask the dark under eye circles. It does mention that it helps with wrinkle reduction, but I can’t say that I’ve noticed any difference around my eyes. There’s also no burn or tingle when you put it on (another good thing!)
I’ve also heard great things about the Sunday Riley CEO Brightening serum (this one is a Vitamin C serum akin to my favorite Drunk Elephant C-Firma) that works similarly to the Autocorrect. I haven’t personally tried it, but if their Vitamin C serum is anything like the rest of their skincare line, I’m sure it’s also amazing (and completely worth the investment!)
Gift Ideas & Bundles:
If you’ve been looking to try some of the Sunday Riley products and you’re not interested in committing a ton of money, you could always purchase one of the travel-size/gift-size duo kits from Sephora! I love this one - as it’s the perfect size of both Luna AND Good Genes and is such a good discounted price for the set!
Sunday Riley also makes a moisturizing / brightening kit with their Tidal (another cream that I haven’t tried but want to!) and Autocorrect. Again, this is another good way to try out of their products without having to commit.
Like I said, I absolutely love getting skincare and cosmetic products in my Christmas stockings, so any of these would make an awesome gift to give to the beauty lover in your life!
