Weekly Amazon Wellness Finds!
Hey all! Happy Sunday! I'm just popping on the blog today because I got to thinking about Morgan and I's Wellness Challenge. (If you're interested in joining the FREE challenge, you can join our Facebook Group "Swift + Simple Wellness Tribe")
We talk a lot about relaxation and self-care and that, for me, is what Sundays are all about. Waking up when I want to (the one day without an alarm!), having some morning coffee, and slowly, lazily starting the day. Sometimes, I'll have some projects around the house that need to be done, but mostly, it's a day for me to mentally prepare for the coming week. So, it's important for me to do something that is just, simply, for me. A little self-care, if you will. And, obviously, that comes in a lot of different forms and is something that we will dig into in the coming weeks. But, if you're interested in doing the challenge (or just finding other ways to relax and calm down at night), these are some great options.
I love everything about the Voluspa candles. I first found them when I was wondering impulsively through the Central Market holistic aisles and they smell so good. They're a little bit more expensive than Yankee Candles, but they have such a thick, great scent and they last forever. My biggest pet peeve is when I buy a candle and as it burns, I can't smell anything! It's such a serious letdown. So, I have to say: candles are my weakness. And, especially these ones. If you have little ones at home (or, let's be honest, cats!), then the diffuser rods are a great flameless option as well. If it was up to me, I would have candles, diffusers, and incense burning in all rooms, all the time.
I've shared some of my favorite diffusers before, but that's because I freakin' love them! Diffusers are one of my favorite things to turn on before I go to bed. I love the smell of Young Living's Thieves and I put 2-3 drops in my diffuser every night before going to sleep. Regardless of what you keep it in the house, and when you run it, you can alternate the scents for relaxation, rejuvenation, stress release, you name it! I think scent preference is pretty unique to each person, but there are so many great essential oils out there, that you're missing out if you haven't tried them yet! I will say this - essential oils are not all created equal. I've found that Young Living has some of the best fragrances and blends. When you buy cheaper oils, they're more likely to be cut down and therefore, the smell and effectiveness is lessened.
Again, my love of smells goes a long way! I'm a bit of a nut about bedding (Have you seen my post about my Sleep Time Essentials?). This is the one item that you are going to use every single day of your life. I completely think it is worth the investment to have high quality bedding. So, it goes without saying that I like to make sure it smells great! This is a great relaxation spray (and lavender is another favorite scent!) that you can spritz on your pillow (or, again, in the room) before you go to bed. But, then again, I love the smell of lavender enough that I would spray it all the time as a room spray, regardless of bed time or not!
One of the biggest themes that I want to focus on in the Swift + Simple Wellness Challenge is the idea of being in touch with yourself and your thoughts/feelings. Many times, people feel as though they fail in their nutrition or fitness and they can't explain why. For me, it's finding those underlying feelings and being able to identify them. And, even better, I find when I can pinpoint a specific way that I'm feeling or an issue that I'm having, if I write it down, I can address it head on. I'm a big fan of journaling. I'm also a big fan of writing everything down with pen and paper. Call be old-fashioned, but for me, it feels much more personal than typing on a keyboard. This journal is a great step into writing down your thoughts and feelings and gives you little daily prompts.
Don't like to journal? That's fair. But this is a great way to work out some creativity, but also anxiety and frustration! I find coloring to be extremely relaxing. And, not going to lie, it makes for some pretty awesome artwork. There's a thousand different kinds of coloring books available on Amazon if you're not into swearing. But, let's be honest. You did kind of giggle. There's so many different uses for these adult coloring books, but I find that they are a fantastic way to wind down after a long day, a way to stay off your electronic devices and social media, and even a stress-reliever for long flights!
I'm nothing if not a little practical. And, as much as I would love a pair of Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones (hello, 12 hour London flight!), we don't all have $300+ to drop on a pair of headphones. I feel like these ones from COWIN are a pretty good, low cost option for the noise-cancelling headphones. Let's face it: You want to relax at night and there's a lot of outside distractions. Put your headphones on and color. Set some boundaries and relax!
I love self-care when it comes in the form of pampering yourself. Again, I could go and get a weekly facial if I had the means to do it. But, alas, I don't. So, you've got to do a little bit for yourself at home. This mud mask is the perfect treat to detoxify your skin and clean out your pores. And bonus - it's super affordable, too!
You all know I'm a crazy cat lady. I'm not really ashamed of it. But, I do have a thing for super cute coffee mugs. It's my thing, leave me alone! I have a couple of these super cute cat mugs and I love them! Sometimes, I find that I just want to drink coffee because of my mug, what can I say? But, at night, when you're trying to relax, you can always fill it with your favorite sleepy time tea and color as you unwind.
