I’ve had the travel bug since I was five years old and am still smitten to this day. From 5+ hour road trips with family to cross-continent flights, traveling has been a big part of my life. As I’ve gotten older and started traveling on my own—whether it be a staycation or finally embarking on a dream trip abroad—I learned how important important it is to maintain your beauty and skin routine. This may include all of your mini toiletries, your go-to face wash, your reliable hair straightener, or your favorite rosy blush.

Yes, you could purchase a new face wash, borrow some hair tools from the hotel, or use your friend’s make-up, but why do that when you already have the product that works well for you?

The Swift Team’s Essential Beauty Products for Travel

From all of us at Swift Wellness, here is a round-up of our tried and true must-have beauty products for travel that keep us feeling like our best selves, no matter where we are on this planet!

Liv

Fashion & Beauty Writer

Liv shares she doesn’t like to travel with many products when she’s on the go, but these three have become her travel beauty essentials no matter her destination.

Essential Brow Gel

ILIA

I always save room to carry the Ilia Brow Gel. The brow gel is tinted and applies in a few quick swipes, defining brows and holding them in place. Putting this product on gives my confidence a subtle oomph every time.

Miracle Hair Treatment

ELEVEN AUSTRALIA

My hairdresser suggested Eleven Australia’s Miracle Hair Treatment and it’s my holy grail. I run a pump of the product through my hair after every shower to tame inevitable frizz and protect the strands. The hair treatment smells beachy and never leaves my hair greasy or oily. This bottle is too large to carry on, but you can portion out a TSA-approved amount for your flight!

Daily SPF 32

COCOKIND

Sunscreen is a must no matter where I’m waking up, and I love the consistency of the Daily SPF from Cocokind. The lotion absorbs quickly without leaving any trace of white and is easy to layer with makeup, too. Though you can use this sunscreen all over your body, I like to save it for my face and use a higher SPF elsewhere.

Angela

Fashion Editor

No matter my destination, from scenic road trips or 10+ hour flights, these are my essential beauty products for travel. My skin is very sensitive, so it’s a priority to make sure my skin doesn’t get irritated whenever I’m traveling. Therefore, I hold these products dear to my heart to help me maintain my skincare routine while far from home. My skin feels comfortable and I feel like my whole look is complete.

Image: Glossier

Cloud Paint

GLOSSIER

I have this blush product in three colors—Dusk, Beam, and Puff—depending on my mood and season. With it being the perfect size for travel, it’s so easy to apply to brighten up your face any time of day—no brush needed!

Image: Amazon

Pumpkin Glycolic Face Mask

ANDALOU

This is one of my favorite products to give my skin the refresh it needs. It is travel-size ready and I like to use this face mask the evening after a long flight. It wakes my skin up and keeps it healthy!

Image: Amazon

Body Creme

BIODERMA

Again, my skin gets dry easily and it’s sensitive. I’ve dealt with eczema for years and this body cream is one of my most consistent and reliable beauty products to keep my skin soft and smooth. I use it when I don’t travel, so I always make sure to pack some in a travel-sized bottle before any trip!

Maura

Lifestyle and Travel Writer

Maura enjoys being outdoors when she travels, so ease, comfort, and protecting her skin is what she prioritizes in her beauty products for travel.

Travel Size Dry Shampoo

BATISTE

Something about travel and hair can really not mesh for me. Dry shampoo is a must-have travel product in emergencies and a major time-saver for when I want to get right out the door to explore. Batiste is amazing: I get regularly asked if I am wearing perfume when I sport it (always say yes), it is super effective, and blends well into different kinds of hair. It is a lifesaver!

Hydro-Boost Hyaluronic Face Gel

NEUTROGENA

When I travel to dry or hot environments, I always bring this ultra-hydrating water-gel moisturizer by Neutrogena. Nothing makes my skin feel as hydrated and smooth.

Image: Amazon

Plant-Based Sunscreen

AUSTRALIAN GOLD

Since much of my travel time is spent outdoors, sunscreen is an essential travel product for me. I finally found my favorite go-to sunscreen brand that feels like a facial lotion and smells nothing like typical sunscreen. I love the strong aloe and coconut notes. Plus, you can get the sunscreen in different SPF levels, including 30, 50, and 70!

Sielo

Lifestyle Writer

Vacation or not, having fresh, clean, and comfortable skin is what’s most important to Sielo while traveling. These three products below do just that!

Image: Target

Acne Foaming Wash

PANOXYL

My go-to cleansing item is a benzoyl peroxide wash. This antibacterial wash keeps my skin as bump-free as possible. You can use this just as a face wash, but on vacation, I use this all over my body as an effective one-stop-shop to keep packing light.

Image: Amazon

Deodorizing Bamboo Wipes

ALCALA

I know what you’re thinking: another body cleanse item? For me, keeping bacteria and sweat off of my skin is essential given my autoimmune condition. Plus, even before my diagnosis, I hated sitting in sweat. Antibacterial wipes can be carried in your purse or fanny pack and used quickly in the bathroom. Wiping down is an effective way to stay fresh all vacay!

Rosehip Oil

RADHA

I’m an oil girl without a doubt, but packing oils can be a real pain. I like to only carry 1-3 oils with me when I’m away. While my favorite skin brightening oil may always be vitamin E, rosehip oil may be my favorite vacation oil. Something about the smooth feel, delightful smell, and glowing effects makes this oil seem like a luxurious treat for my skin. Who wouldn’t want to feel that way on vacation?

Sam

Wellness Editor

Sam likes to feel refreshed and keep their beauty routine simple when they are on the go. These are their essential beauty products for travel that make their days away from home easier.

Dream Eye Cream

YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE

There’s something about traveling that brings out my dark circles in an intense way. While this is a product I use daily, this is also my ultimate traveling product to stay looking awake and ready for adventure.

Image: Amazon

Powder Dry Shampoo

HAIRSTORY

This one was a crowd favorite throughout the team! Sam explains, “When I’m traveling I want to be able to walk out the door as soon as possible and get the most out of my trip, so dry shampoo is a MUST and I absolutely love this dry shampoo. I’m a big fan of aerosol-free dry shampoos and this one just checks off all my boxes.”

Image: Sephora

Roller Lash Curling Mascara

BENEFIT COSMETICS

I love this mascara because it comes in a mini version so you can not only save packing space by the size of the actual bottle, but you don’t have to worry about remembering your lash curler, either.” Sam shares why the mini version is perfect for travel, however, consider the bigger bottle for your everyday beauty routine!

Face Cleansing Wipes

SIMPLE

At Swift, more than one of us are fans of the Simple brand, especially these cleansing wipes!

Sam explains, “Am I the only one who feels absolutely disgusting after a long road trip or flight? Having these face wipes on me at all times is a must for a quick little refresh. I also have pretty sensitive skin so these gentle face wipes ensure that I don’t find myself breaking out during a trip, which is the worst time to break out if you ask me.”

Cassie

Head of Content

Cassie shares that she doesn’t travel that much, but when she does, she makes sure to have these beauty products for travel packed and ready to go!

Mini Titanium Hair Straightener

BABYBLISSPRO

This mini hair straightener is perfect for touch-ups whenever I am traveling. It has the full heating power of my full-size straightener. Sure, it's not large enough to straighten my entire head of curly hair, but on the go, it's useful for touch-ups and flyaways! I’ve owned mine for almost ten years and it still works like new!

Image: Amazon

Instant Stain Remover Wipes

SHOUT

These wipes are great to have on hand for stain removal. Similar to a Tide Pen, you can use these wipes on stains as soon as they happen. I prefer these because they are individually packaged and less likely to spill in your purse or luggage.

Makeup Remover Wipes

NEUTROGENA

Nothing gets my makeup off better than cleansing towelettes from Neutrogena. I like the travel-sized pack because of its slim shape. The package is resealable and small enough to fit in your purse!

Ashley

Editor-In-Chief

Ashley is a jet setter and has found her beauty essentials for travel that help her feel like her best self, especially after long hours in a skin-drying airplane.

Image: Sephora

Jet Lag Mask

SUMMER FRIDAYS

Aptly named, this is one of my favorite ultra-moisturizing masks, plus it doubles as a hydrating night cream or daytime moisturizer. You don’t even have to wash it off!

Image: Glossier

Stretch Concealer

GLOSSIER

(Glossier is also a team favorite, especially between Ashley and I.)

We can both agree that this is hands-down the best concealer we’ve ever used. Ashley states, “I am the President of the Dark Circles Club and this tiny jar of concealer is absolute wizardry. Not only does a tiny bit go an incredibly long way, but it can also be layered for even more coverage. Use a bit of setting powder and it’ll stay all day.”

Mini Perfect Hair Day (Advanced Clean)

LIVING PROOF

As someone with fine hair, a plane ride quickly turns my hair into a greasy and oily mess. Sometimes, I’m a dry shampoo die-hard, but sometimes a standard spray doesn’t cut it for me. This actually cleans the hair and extends the time that I can go between shampoos even longer. A bit spendy, but totally worth it.

Image: Glossier

FutureDew

GLOSSIER

Ashley shares a special Glossier combo that helps her maintain her natural glow!

She says, “I might have found the stretch concealer + FutureDew combo on Reddit and I’m so glad that I did. When I’m traveling, if I can avoid wearing foundation or heavy makeup, I will. This is a lightweight serum that gives your skin a subtle glow. I use just a little bit on my cheekbones to give my face a very natural-looking highlight.”

Image: Sephora

Ultra Repair® Cream Intense Hydration

FIRST AID BEAUTY

My skin will get drier than the Sahara as soon as I step on a plane. This is a rich, thick hydrating moisturizer that I can use anywhere on my body and doesn’t make my face break out!

Image: Amazon

Skin Oil

JASON

Did I mention that my skin gets incredibly dry on planes? I use this vitamin E oil almost daily on my hands to moisturize dry cuticles (I’m a chronic nail biter, what can I say?) but this prevents my hands from getting dry and rough on planes. Plus, after I rub the oil into my hands, I’ll lightly tap my face to add a little extra boost of hydrating oil over my moisturizer. Even better, the 4oz bottle is TSA-friendly and under $5!
